Annual HYSPLIT Workshop in Progress

June 2018

ARL’s HYSPLIT team is hosting a workshop June 12-15 at the NOAA Center for Weather and Climate Prediction in College Park, Maryland. Dr. Ariel Stein, Glenn Rolph, Barbara Stunder, Fong (Fantine) Ngan, Alice Crawford, and Christopher Loughner, along with retired ARL scientist Roland Draxler, are providing instruction and support during the event, which is designed to provide HYSPLIT users worldwide with hands-on instruction on how to install, run, and interpret the results of the PC/Mac-based version of the HYSPLIT model.

Approximately 20 individuals are scheduled to attend in person and virtual sessions are planned to accommodate nearly 125 additional attendees representing 14 countries across North and South America, Africa, Asia, and Europe. HYSPLIT developers credit decades of national and international collaboration for the model’s ever-strengthening capabilities, noting that differing perspectives and operational objectives help to better inform decision making regarding enhancements.

Anyone interested in joining a future workshop is encouraged to visit https://www.arl.noaa.gov/hysplit/hysplit-workshop/. ARL also offers online tutorials at https://www.ready.noaa.gov/HYSPLIT_Tutorials.php.
