Gold Medal award for Bill Petersen
April 15, 2004
Following the Anthrax attack on various locations around the US in late 2001, the Brentwood postal facility servicing the Capitol was closed. There was an extensive investigation of the situation there, on the basis of which a program involving chlorine dioxide as a sanitizing agent was initiated. The facility has only recently been reoccupied. A team led by EPA and with NOAA participation guided the response activity. Bill Petersen of ARL Research Triangle Park was a key member of the team.
It has just been announced that the team has been awarded an EPA Gold Medal for its service. Congratulations to Bill.
