LaToya Myles participated in the spring meeting of the AGU Honors and Recognition Committee on May 1-2 in Washington, DC. The 12-member H&R Committee maintains oversight of AGU’s honors and recognition programs at all levels – Union-wide (medals, fellows, awards, and prizes) and across the 25 Sections. The meeting was held at AGU’s newly remodeled headquarters, an award-winning net zero building.

“Impacts of Small-Scale Urban Encroachment on Air Temperature Observations,” by Ronald D. Leeper, John Kochendorfer, Timothy Henderson, and Michael A. Palecki, has been accepted to the Journal of Applied Meteorology and Climatology. The manuscript describes the results of an experiment performed in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, quantifying the effects of urban heat sources on air temperature.
