ARL’s Maureen McMahon receives NOAA Distinguished Career Award- 2009
Congratulations to Maureen McMahon for receiving the NOAA Distinguished Career Award for exemplary, sustained and broad administrative support for the Air Resources Lab while also setting high standards for professionalism and courtesy.
Ms. McMahon started her career in NOAA at the National Weather Service in 1990 and came to the Air Resources Laboratory in 1992. She was promoted from a clerical position to Administrative Specialist in 2005. Throughout that time she has been an outstanding employee, exemplifying the best attributes of a civil servant.
One key contributor to her sustained extraordinary contributions is her broad knowledge of NOAA’s administrative processes and systems. Ms. McMahon is the “go to” person in ARL for administrative issues. She coordinates and handles many administrative duties in ARL Headquarters including working with financial systems, procurement, paying bills, property management, badges, security clearances, facilities, and travel. She actively seeks to learn new processes and systems to ensure that the goals of ARL are accomplished. In addition, she freely shares her expertise with others, often assisting administrative staff in other OAR offices.
For two decades Ms. McMahon has provided administrative support with exemplary dedication, professionalism, excellence, and integrity, enabling ARL and other NOAA units to achieve their scientific and technical goals. She is known throughout ARL and OAR as one of the most knowledgeable, dedicated, and hard working administrative experts in NOAA. She is a model for administrative staff and is truly an asset to the Department of Commerce.
