HYSPLIT Featured at GMU’s Annual Modeling Conference

Three members of ARL’s HYSPLIT team presented during the Twenty‐third Annual George Mason University Conference on Atmospheric Transport and Dispersion Modeling, held June 18-20 in Fairfax, Virginia. Drs. Tianfeng Chai, Christopher Loughner, and Fong (Fantine) Ngan gave consecutive presentations during a special session titled “Urban-scale Meteorological and Dispersion Experiments and Models.” Dr. Chai presented “HYSPLIT Inverse Modeling,” Dr. Loughner presented “Evaluation of Recently Added STILT Features into HYSPLIT,” and Dr. Ngan presented “Evaluating the Mixing Characteristics in HYSPLIT with Controller Tracer Experiment.” Ariel Stein, Hyun Cheol Kim, Alice Crawford, and Barbara Stunder co-authored the talks, which were followed by a National Weather Service presentation detailing HYSPLIT usage in preparation for, and in response to, actual events involving the release of hazardous materials.
