BRACE Special Issue in Atmospheric Environment

November 1, 2005

The Bay Region Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment was designed to improve estimates of the deposition of atmospheric nitrogen to Tampa Bay. In addition, the study was to apportion atmospheric nitrogen between local, regional and remote emission sources and to assess Tampa Bay air quality before and after the Tampa Electric Company Gannon Station Powerplant re-powering from coal to natural gas. Approximately 15 manuscripts will be submitted to Atmospheric Environment later this month as part of a special issue to be published in 2006. ARL co-authored at least six of these papers, based on chemical concentration and flux measurements at the super site east of Tampa and from the NOAA Twin Otter N48RF. Modeling studies involving CMAQ are presently underway and will be published separately in a year or so.
