Appointment of Director of ARL/ASMD – Research Triangle Park

Dr. S. T. Rao of the State University of New York, Albany, has accepted an appointment as Director of the ARL Atmospheric Sciences Modeling Division in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. This group serves as the provider of meteorological expertise to EPA research, and is a leader in the development of air quality models. Dr. Rao is a world-recognized figure in the air quality research community, and it is with great pleasure that we welcome him to ARL. He will start on 1 October, 2001. This appointment follows the retirement of Frank Schiermeier in February, 2001. In the interim, Bill Petersen continues to serve as Acting Director.
