50th Anniversary of the Mauna Loa Observatory

January 31, 2008

In November 2007, Dr. John Miller, who was observatory director in the late seventies, participated in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Mauna Loa Observatory (MLO) on the Big Island of Hawaii. MLO was a part of ARL’s Geophysical Monitoring for Climatic Change for over 18 years until 1990 when it was transferred to the NOAA Climate Monitoring and Diagnostics Laboratory. As a contribution to this celebration, a retrospective video of Dr. Miller’s time as director was produced by NOAA’s Climate Program Office.
