ARL hosts Staff from the Office of NOAA Oceanic and Atmospheric Research’s Chief Financial
Officer

Staffers from the Office of NOAA’s Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Chief Financial Officer (CFO) visited ARL’s Atmospheric Sciences and Modeling Division in College Park, MD, on Tuesday, February 20. ARL Director Ariel Stein, Deputy Director LaToya Myles, Atmospheric Sciences Modeling Division Director in College Park, MD, Howard Diamond, and the Atmospheric Turbulence and Diffusion Division Chief in Oak Ridge, TN, John Kochendorfer, welcomed the visitors.

The visit included a presentation by Susanne Keveney, Director of the Formulation and Congressional Analysis Division for the CFO’s Office, and a tour of ARL’s laboratory facility. There, scientists Xinrong Ren and Winston Luke presented the calibration and staging of instrumentation for field campaigns; Phil Stratton led a tour and demonstration of the equipment on the ARL Research Car (ARC). He discussed how the ARC is involved with ARL’s Greenhouse Gas monitoring program. They also visited the rooftop area, where an instrumentation platform is the future site of one of our new UrbanNet observing stations. Meetings like this one build understanding and collaboration between different areas of NOAA. By understanding the missions of other offices, we can work together more effectively to meet NOAA’s overall mission of science, service, and stewardship.
