Comparison of HYSPLIT Trajectories to Smoke Plumes
Forward trajectories (2800 and 3000 meters) were computed using the Final (FNL) analysis meteorological data for a location in Central Mexico originating at 0000 UTC on May 13. A comparison with the GOES-8 visible satellite image from May 15 at 2245 UTC shows that the smoke plume corresponds well with the modeled trajectories. A similar comparison was done by the University of Wisconsin (CIMSS) on May 7. Transport Modeling & Assessment Group - Silver Spring, MD |
